Richard Munns

Production Sound Mixer

I am a Production Sound Mixer with over 30 years experience. Based mainly in London and Somerset, I have worked extensively in high end TV drama and comedy but also have a background in documentary/factual.I have a degree in Film & Video from West Surrey College of Art & Design - which is where I discovered sound recording was an actual job! During my course, I worked on numerous final projects and short films and upon graduating announced I was a freelance sound mixer. I’ve been at it ever since.I have never lost that initial enthusiasm…...it is after all the best job on set!I believe making film and TV is a team effort and I bring this attitude to each project. I love working with the other departments to find the best way to get the script onto the screen. I find it makes the job more rewarding, enjoyable and ultimately gets better results. This collaborative approach stems from both film school and documentary projects where flexibility and adaptability were key.My most recent drama projects include John Morton’s hilarious ‘Twenty Twenty Six’ and Ryan Sampson’s ‘Mr. Big Stuff’ with the incredible (BAFTA winner) Danny Dyer. Other career highlights are Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney’s ‘Catastrophe’, ‘Breeders’ with Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard, Daisy Haggard’s ‘Back to Life’ and ‘Year of the Rabbit’ with Matt Berry.
Recent factual work includes Clarkson’s Farm, The Grand Tour and the Amazon documentary Formula E: Driver.
I’ve been lucky to work on some great projects with brilliant directors, producers and crews. I have a fabulous team and a van full of kit ready to go for the next one.
